Uranium and thorium minerals produce francium in vanishingly small quantities via their natural radioisotope decay chains. At most a few atoms at a time exist in a rock like this, and you can't see any of them.

This mineral, Thorite, appears in my Photographic Periodic Table Poster representing francium, because this highly unstable element can't reasonably be photographed. The rock probably contains on the order of a few atoms of francium at any one time, as part of the complex decay chains of the thorium and uranium that make up a much larger fraction of the sample. In no meaningful way is francium itself visible in the sample, but sadly that's about the best you can do with an element like this. The sample photograph includes text exactly as it appears in the poster, which you are encouraged to buy a copy of.

Up until the early 1990's a company in Russia sold a periodic table collection with element samples. At some point their American distributor sold off the remaining stock to a man who is now selling them on eBay. The samples (except gasses) weigh about 0.25 grams each, and the whole set comes in a very nice wooden box with a printed periodic table in the lid.

Radioactive elements like this one are represented in this particular set by a non-radioactive dummy powder, which doesn't look anything like the real element. (In this case a sample of the pure element isn't really practical anyway.)

The Red Green and Blue company in England sells a very nice element collection in several versions. Max Whitby, the director of the company, very kindly donated a complete set to the periodic table table.

Francium Uranium ore inside a Revigator

Uranium ore (inside a Revigator).
My Revigator, which contains quite a bit of carnotite uranium ore, probably has more astatine, francium, actinium, and protactinium in it than my depleted uranium metal samples, even though they have far more uranium in them.
