There seems to be an aversion to naming elements after living people or even people who are a bit too freshly deceased. Flerovium, for example, is not named for Georgy Flerov, but rather for the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions. Which happens to be named for Georgy Flerov, but that's, uh, different. This picture represents flerovium in my Photographic Periodic Table Poster.
