Copper scrap.
My assistant Nick Mann has done a fair bit of photography work for Mervis Industries, an industrial metal recycler. They even sent him to Mexico to photograph their operations there, which is where he found this pretty piece of copper scrap. My guess is it's the left over bits from which electrical plug blades have been stamped out, but that's just a guess.
