I didn't realize until just now that you could buy such perfect graphite rods very cheaply anywhere welding supplies are sold. They cost about a dollar each for 12" rods, and would be perfect for stirring molten metals if not for the copper cladding. It would be possible to melt the copper off, but I'm going to investigate whether some welding shops might carry ones without the copper.
